About Us

The Eagles (Ty Uchaf) lies in the heart of the village of Penmachno, playing a vital role in local community life.

A traditional Welsh village pub, an inn has stood on this particular site since the 17th Century with the current building dating back to the turn of the 19th Century.

Who we are….

The Eagles is a family run pub, which plays a central role within the vibrant local community.  We host regular community events, including the likes of Welsh language classes, charity quizzes, and music evenings.

The Eagles is run by a dedicated small team of friendly staff, all of whom are based within the local community, who take great pride in serving the locals and visitors alike and are always on hand with welcoming advice.

As animal lovers ourselves, The Eagles is a dog friendly pub with dog treats and a bowl of water always available from behind the bar.

We look forward to welcoming you to The Eagles Penmachno very soon!

The staff are extremely helpful, they opened the kitchen late for us one evening after we arrived late from scrambling. The pub is a true Wales village experience too – and the price point is fantastic – I would stay here again!

Beautiful little countryside pub with lots of character and warm welcome, they also have a log fire that hugs you as you arrive during the colder nights.

We have just come back from a short break in Penmachno, a small village set in a beautiful valley. We visited the pub each evening, food is only served Friday and Saturday for 2 hours which seems a shame as the meals we had were very nice. The beer was excellent, I could have stayed longer but ….This is a very welcoming pub, well behaved dogs are allowed. Can’t comment on the accommodation, we had a cottage opposite. Sunday evening there is an informal quiz, good fun. The pub is closed Monday and Tuesday and oddly the opening times on the business days are all different! Well worth a detour off the A5.

Had a great stay at the Eagles. We’re a group of 5 Mountain Bikers. Gary and his team looked after storing our bikes securely providing a great dinner and beer. Rooms are clean and comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped. No hesitation in returning soon.

Phenomenal experience at The Eagles Bunkhouse. The owners Gary and Keith were amazing hosts. The pub itself was very cosy, with a fireplace to warm you up after a hike. Highly recommend.
